House of Hearing Nominated in Scottish Health Awards

House of Hearing is proud to announce that two of our own have been recognised at the Scottish Health Awards 2025, Scotland’s most prestigious celebration of healthcare excellence.

We are delighted to share that:

  • Melanie Jackson, Head of ENT Nursing & Clinical Lead, has been nominated for Best Nurse Award.
  • Our Clinical Ear Care (CEC) Team, led by Practice Manager Eilidh O’Fee, has been nominated for the Top Team Award.

These nominations recognise the dedication, innovation and patient-centred approach that define House of Hearing’s earwax removal and ear care services across Scotland.

Leading the Way in Clinical Ear Care

Melanie Jackson, BSc (Hons) RGN, RHAD, joined House of Hearing in 2012 and has since built one of the UK’s leading private clinical earwax removal services, now supported by a team of more than 50 Clinical Ear Care Practitioners nationwide.

Melanie also pioneered House of Hearing’s Free Earwax Removal Service for Over-75s, an innovative programme that helps reduce pressure on NHS ear care services during a period of record backlogs, while providing vital access to care for older adults.

With over two decades of ENT nursing experience, including roles at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London and Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, Mel’s expertise spans all aspects of aural health. She specialises in microsuction, irrigation and instrumentation, as well as ear disease management, post-surgical care, and ENT referral pathways.

Recognising Outstanding Teamwork

The Clinical Ear Care (CEC) Team has been nominated for the Top Team Award, reflecting their professionalism, teamwork and commitment to safe, effective, and compassionate ear care.

Led by Eilidh O’Fee, the CEC team provides thousands of earwax removal appointments every year from our HIS-registered clinics across Scotland. Using advanced microsuction and irrigation techniques, the team helps patients of all ages find quick, comfortable relief from blocked ears, hearing loss and tinnitus.

Their nomination highlights how independent hearing care providers like House of Hearing play a vital role in community healthcare, offering trusted alternatives to large national chains, with a greater focus on personal service and long-term support.
