Ear Plugs for the Work Environment

Within the UK, the law states that an individual can be exposed to a sound pressure level 80dB(A) for a maximum of 8 hours. At this level, the employer upon request must make hearing protection available. Where the noise level exceeds 85dB(A), it is a legal requirement to provide hearing protection.

Certain types of earplugs can be fitted with a cord, which is convenient if the earpieces are to be inserted and removed regularly.

All earplugs can be fitted with a metal ball so that earpieces which are mislaid in the foodstuffs industry can be located with the aid of a detecting device.
