RITE (Receiver In The Ear) – these hearing
aids, also known as RIC (Receiver In the Canal), are phenomenally popular due to their super-small dimensions, providing the ultimate in discretion. The tiny receiver is situated in the ear canal, but with the main device sitting discreetly behind the ear there is very little in the ear itself, which makes the device extremely comfortable to wear. Several of these devices are available with bluetooth connectivity.
A variant on this type is the miniBTE, which, as its name suggests, is similarly small in size, but contains all the electronics in the unit behind the ear, channeling the sound down a slim tube into the ear canal.

BTE (Behind The Ear) – this hearing aid sits behind
the wearer's ear, channelling sound into the ear via a tube and a custom-made earmould. These instruments are very versatile, and are able to help people with mild hearing loss, profound hearing loss, and everywhere in between! Most models are fitted with advanced directional microphone technology, and their position behind the ear means they can improve hearing performance in environments with considerable background noise.

ITE (In The Ear) – these hearing
aids contain all of the electronics in the custom-made shell, so the whole hearing
aid sits inside your ear. Due to their larger size, these hearing aids are capable of high volume, making them suitable for many kinds and degrees of hearing loss. Commonly fitted with a telecoil, which enables the wearer to pick up sound from a loop system. Certain models are also capable of bluetooth connectivity.

ITC (In The Canal) – this hearing
aid is custom-made to fit the wearer's ear exactly, and sits between an ITE and CIC in size. Ideal for those who want a discreet solution but are unable to wear a CIC, this size is consequently very popular. Frequently can be fitted with a telecoil for loop system pick-up, depending on the size of the individual's ear.

CIC
(Completely In the Canal) – these
hearing aids are the smallest custom-made devices available, and fit right inside the canal. Provided the ear is suitable, they can be made so small as to be virtually invisible. In addition to the obvious cosmetic benefits, the recessed position of the microphone in a CIC makes these aids ideal for telephone use, and keeps the level of wind noise to a minimum, making them very popular with golfers and outdoor enthusiasts.
Recent advances in technology have made these hearing
aids more and more powerful, and they are now capable of fitting severe hearing losses.
